We understand that buying an engagement ring - let alone, a custom one, can be an extremely, intimidating task - but we’re here to help! Here’s our simple guide to buying a custom engagement ring.
“What’s the price range of your rings?” This is the question we get asked the most, and the answer is, we don’t have one. We create rings in a variety of sizes and price points, big and small. So, whatever you budget for your ring, that’s what we’re going to work with.
What determines the price of a ring?
The biggest factor in price would be the center stone. The type of stone, the size of it, as well as it’s characteristics, plays a huge role in how much your ring will cost.
For instance, the cost of a diamond is determined by the 4 C’s - Color, Cut, Clarity and Carat. You can have two diamonds that are the exact same shape and size, with the exact same grade in clarity, but they’ll both be at wildly different price points, because of the color grade. Also, a diamond’s weight could be a 1.20ct, but have the exact same millimeter size face up, as a 1.50ct, because the pavilion (bottom of the diamond that slants to the culet, or point) could be more shallow. So, as you can see, there’s a lot of flexibility in cost. It just depends on what characteristics you value the most.
We also like to tell our clients not to worry too much about what the report says. Often times, you’ll find diamonds that are graded differently, but look exactly the same to the naked eye. What’s most important in choosing a diamond is what the diamond looks like to YOU. If you love it, then it’s perfect and that’s all that matters.
Once you have a general sense on the price range you feel the most comfortable with, you can begin the steps towards coming up with your custom design.
Step one: Choose a center stone
Center stone type
diamonds are the most common selection, but they also come in a variety of colors - black, yellow, pink, blue, CHAMPAGNE, just to name a few.
For something a little less traditional, Precious & semi-precious gemstones are chosen. Whether it be a ruby, sapphire, emerald, or something like a moonstone, morganite or aquamarine, we got you covered.

Step Two: Choose a Ring Style
This part is probably the most challenging because there are so many different ring styles, it’s sometimes difficult to choose which one’s our favorite. A few options are shown to the right.
There are also, a lot of different ways to play up each style. you could add small diamonds to the band, you could add a colored stone, or use different shaped stones in your clusters & halos. Below, is a gallery showing a few unique styles we created:
Step three: Select a metal type + color
We only create engagement rings with precious metals. The majority of rings made in our studio are created in 18k gold, but we also work with 14k. We strongly advise not going below 14k, when choosing gold for an engagement ring.
